A classic of railway safety revisited by Recuperi Service
The innovative concept that inspired the creation of this product allows for savings, in terms of time and spare parts value, when restoring the accessory after an impact.

The derailer (or wheel chock) is a fundamental railway safety device. Its history is linked to the need to prevent the “runaway” of wagons and rolling stock from stabling tracks toward running lines.
Derailers were introduced with the development of modern railways to ensure the independence of secondary tracks (freight yards, sidings) from the main lines. Their function is twofold:
Preventing movement: they mechanically block the wheels of stationary wagons.
Active protection: if a wagon escapes control, the derailer guides it to derail in a safe area rather than allowing it to encroach on the main line, where it could cause collisions with passing trains.
The derailer originated as a mobile object useful for the passive stabling of rolling stock. Over the years, its use has undergone variations that have led the product into a fixed, rotatable configuration that allows the passage of vehicles when necessary.
Today, the main types of derailers are:
Fixed: permanently installed on the track and operated manually or electrically.
Mobile: manually positioned by the operator under the wheels of stationary rolling stock.
RAIL SAFETY BRAKE is a FIXED, MANUAL, and TRAIL-ABLE derailer.
Both the working and rest positions are lockable by means of manual locks, integrated into an interlocking system that connects the derailer with other specialized equipment or accessories. In addition to being used for stabling, it is also used as an emergency braking system. Once struck by the railway vehicle, it stops the movement depending on the impact speed and the mass of the rolling stock. Last but not least, the trail-able system of RAIL SAFETY BRAKE ensures rapid restoration.
